God, in His sovereignty, chose to bless our family a month early! Mona 最愛 (“highest love” in Japanese) Grace Vanning was born at 2:54 am on May 2nd. She was 4 weeks early but a healthy 5 lbs 9 oz and 19.5 inches long. Nozomi lost a LOT of blood due to some serious complications but is now doing much better. Thank you for your prayers. We are all home from the hospital now.

We chose Mona 最愛 Grace for two reasons: first, because of it’s beautiful meaning in Japanese thinking of the “highest love” of Jesus on the cross. Second, because it is a name that will be a constant reminder of God’s grace to us through our community of believers in the LifeGroup (small group) we’ve grown to love over the last 5 years. We will miss their grace, truth, love, and fellowship tremendously in Japan.

I will be “out of the office” for the next week or so to care for my wife and children. But please do not hesitate to contact me. My reply may be a little later than usual, but I will get back to you as soon as possible.

At this time I only have one more planned traveling engagement. However we have multiple churches we hope will start supporting us in the coming months.

But we need more individuals on our monthly support team. By having more individuals on our support team we can spend more time in the churches we visit. Our hope is to be a blessing to the pastors of each church and to you when we are home on furlough. We don’t want to be just another picture in your lobby, but we want to be your friends and family who are serving the Lord in Japan. We need more individual partners in order to accomplish this.

We are a little over 65% of our needed monthly pledge support. We still need about $2000 a month more. If you have not set up a monthly pledge now is the time. We would be honored to have you on our team. Click here and sign up with a monthly pledge amount of $200, $100, $50 or $25. (Email us if you have trouble with this so we can help set it up.)
